To me the most important aspect of psychotherapy is a respect for my client, for his history and his emotions. Psychotherapy is supporting a client during his road toward awareness. Psychotherapy should relieve suffering and my role is to support client in this journey. The change in psychotherapy is possible through finding what ones really needs in order to have a satisfying life.
Gestalt therapy assumes that every person has the potential to drive his behavior and to meet their needs. The source of suffering is often based on habits. The responsibility for your choices gives a sense of freedom. Following scripts that once created, helped in adapting to the difficult situation, we repeat them without a sense of responsibility. Statements “I have to, I should not, I cannot, I am ashamed” block us from taking from the world what we need. In psychotherapy client is looking for a ways for themselves to be able to say ‘I want, I need, I want … “.
